Plan the whole route

A useful access route starts before the first step. Look at the space your cat needs to approach, the path across the ramp and the surface at the top. Keep doors, cables and moving furniture out of that route. Pair the arrangement with a cat bed or lounge that will not shift as your cat arrives.

Read dimensions together

A maximum load figure does not tell you whether a staircase has suitable proportions for your cat. Check tread depth, total width, height and any recommended animal size together. The foldable three-step design is a useful example of why both the overall measurements and the product’s sizing guidance matter.

Make storage practical

If the route shares a walkway, compare how a product folds and where it can be stored between uses. An adjustable folding ramp and a ramp with a footstool form solve different space problems. Any folding or height mechanism must be fully secured again before your cat uses it.

Are steps or a ramp better for my cat?

It depends on your cat’s movement and the space available. Steps create individual footholds, while a ramp avoids separate rises but needs enough length for its slope. Compare both layouts on the convertible steps and ramp, and ask your vet if movement has become painful or difficult.
How do I choose the right height?

Measure the floor-to-landing height and the clear floor space in front of it. Check the product’s stated height settings, surface width and intended use together. The adjustable ramp offers several settings, but raising the end also makes the slope steeper.
Can a product called dog steps suit cats?
